Kickstarter
We're in the final stages before the launch of our Kickstarter campaign.
Our goal is to get enough support to make FLOKI an app that will be available for iOS and Android smartwatches. Here's a link to our draft campaign page on Kickstarter. Please sign up on Kickstarter to be notified of our official launch date and give us any feedback that you might have on the draft page. Right now, we're in the process of putting together a longer video for the campaign. We're making final edits, so if you have any thoughts, please leave your thoughts on our draft Kickstarter page!
Online Demo
A fully functional prototype demo is available on github.io. Anyone and everyone is free to try this on their smartphone.
NOTE: This page is
only functional on mobile touchscreen devices with HTML5 browsers, e.g. Chrome
on iOS and Android.
Here's how FLOKI works. Instead of pushing the ‘B’ key to type in ‘b,’ FLOKI breaks
up the process into two stages. First,
you get to the appropriate button that contains the letter ‘b.’ Next,
you swipe to the corresponding button
to type the letter ‘b’ in. If you swipe
beyond the ‘b’ button, you get a capital ‘B.’ If you swipe into the
button, a
lowercase ‘b’ will be typed instead. A
similar pattern works for special characters. We have developed a unique
system for numbers. If you start in the middle of the watch face,
the buttons will be replaced with numbers. Swipe beyond the button and
the larger number is typed, swipe into the
button for the lower number.
FLOKI Speed Competition
To show that FLOKI is functional for a wide variety of people, we are setting a challenge to everyone out there to see who can type a particular phrase the fastest. Make a video of yourself typing the phrase "FLOKI lets me type fast!" next to a stopwatch and post it to Youtube. Put the link as a comment on this blog post and we'll put your video up on our FLOKI channel. We'll have a special blog post that we'll keep updating to showcase the top three, fastest FLOKI typists! Over time, we'll release different phrases to keep things interesting.
